Tried to make sure today was restful for everyone - poor @aardnebby.lj suffers from hayfever when the weather gets better, so made sure he took his medication early in the day. Pancakes were lovely - S's vocabulary is coming along leaps and bounds and he could definitely say "pancake" rather than just "cake" today!
As promised, we went on a bike ride together. Not very far, because we weren't sure where we wanted to go, and it was a bit windy. Just a few miles in and out, through the local meadows. Sunday morning meant there were actually very few people: a few older people, a few people who were walking their dogs, and one or two families. The one advantage of cycling meant going slightly further than we usually would, and seeing a bit of a different area, which was lovely. C's balancing has come along leaps and bounds, which means that she can now balance on the tag-along, and make @aardnebby.lj's just so much easier! She can even reach the pedals in a helpful manner, so hurray for that!
Stopped by a neighbor's house on the way home, they were in their yard so we chatted at some distance. They're elderly so I'm hoping they'll be fine - they have our number just in case, and it was lovely to see them all together. The upstairs people are fine too although since they're (about to be: he's finishing his nurse training) both key workers I think they're finding things difficult at the moment.
We also realised today that the table needs fixing outside - one of the pieces of wood has rotted. Luckily, most of the table is fine, so might source a 2-by-four, and saw it down to the appropriate shape, sand it and lazure it to protect it.
Family has a nice and successful Zoom session together - I think it helped isolated sister a bit. Different kind of FOMO happening at the moment; I've decided also to listen to as much of the ROH's offering as well as the Met Nightly Stream... and to see what else we could do in terms of "cultural offerings". Don't want to overwhelm, but also keen to broaden horizons beyond the backyard.
Going for a bike ride all together, Cathiner doing great on the tag along, Seb enjoying the bumpy part of Winnersh Meadows. Checking up on elderly neighbours. Chatting with upstairs neighbours. Successful Zoom session. Trying to do more opera - different kind of FOMO?
